Have you all been wondering where Thor is and what he’s been up to? I know I get anxious at the in-between times. Maybe you do to. For those of you just stopping in for the first time, this question might seem a little off the wall. But we have been tracking our favorite Norse god as he has embarked on a trip around the globe, checking in from various stops along the way.
What? The real Thor? Or Chris Hemsworth, you say? Don’t we all wish! No, no. Not in the slightest.
Remember when you were young and you had your favorite doll or action figure? Mine was the 12” Han Solo. That’s right, I admit it. I was a huge geek even then, and I had a big crush on the Star Wars hunk. I still have my Han. We were in luv. All my Barbies ditched Ken and G.I. Joe for him. Today, my little girl, Monkey, has a huge crush on Thor. You see, her mommy is raising her right. 😉 If you ask her about Thor you’ll get a smile much like this one.
Because of her, Thor was chosen as our representative, and our nifty action figure with pump hammer action has taken to the road. He’s made two stops that can easily be viewed on his tour page. Find the link at the top of this page.
Today he’s checking in from his third stop in Alberta, Canada, where he has been enjoying his time with the wonderful author, Sheila Seabrook. Maybe he’s inspired by her talent. Maybe it’s something else, but I hear Thor has also taken up writing. Should I be concerned? Maybe it boils down to having too much fun. I understand a Dear John letter has been drafted. All plans to eventually return home, abandoned. See for yourself:
My dearest Debra,
Oh how I miss you … let me count the ways. I miss your wonderful smile and the bubbling joy of your laughter. To keep reading, click here.
Who knows, maybe Thor will join the ranks as an author. Although, I don’t see him ditching his love for ale and a good brawl for a sit in the chair at the computer, or with pen and paper for very long. He’s more of the physical type, if you get my meaning.
In need of a little pick me up and finding Thor didn’t quite do it for you today? Check out this amazing compilation of 90 inspiring author videos for aspiring authors. Learn why they write, how they got started, when their light bulb moment was, many TED talks moments, great expert advice and much more. You may find exactly what you’re looking for there. Happy hunting. I hope you take the time to visit our world traveler at his current location in Canada. He loves visitors, and can use the encouragement to keep him moving about the globe.

It’s so nice to hear stories of great parenting. It’s even nicer to hear that there are others teaching their kids how to love and appreciate the right kinds of heroes. 🙂 My older daughter loves the Avengers, but I haven’t figured out how to get her to understand Spider-Man the way I do. Maybe it’s better that way–I can keep him all to myself. I’m off to read Thor’s letter now. Have a great day!
We geeked up parent try, don’t we? She doesn’t get the whole Star Wars thing – yet – but she will, some day. I am totally fine with her loving Thor. I approve. One day she said she loved Captain America the best and my jaw dropped. I was like, “WHAT?” Don’t get me wrong. I love Captain America. But he can’t stand up next to Thor. Thor is a GOD! She thought about it for a minute and changed her mind back to Thor. Thank goodness. I thought I was going to have to check her into a program or something. (Just kidding) Has your little one seen the most recent Spider-Man movie? That might make a difference. Try Spidey cartoons and movies and see if that doesn’t get her hooked. The original Thor movie reeled mine in.
Thank goodness both my girls get Star Wars! We showed all 6 to the older one a few years ago. She immediately decided that the prequels are useless. She has her DVDs of the first 3 with Luke, Lei, and Han–the “real” ones that weren’t numbered 4, 5, and 6 when I was a kid. My younger daugher (now 7) likes Star Wars because of the Ewoks and soundtrack music. Start with the Ewoks.
Sadly, I think Spidey will stay mine. She won’t watch any of the Spider-Man stuff with me. My only hope is if Spider-Man wanders into an Avengers story sometime. It was done in the comic books. A girl can dream.
I heard a rumor that there is a camio of peter parker in the Avengers if you know where to look. I haven’t found him yet. My daughter loves Spidey. Unfortunetly, my son loves ALL the Star Wars movies. So sad. But that’s better than none. I think I fell asleep during #3 because I still can’t recall it, yet I know I went to see it. Oh well. My son can hum the music to any of them. That’s his thing. I suspect it’s part of the Aspergers. Little trivia for you, I got married to Darth Vader’s Theme. ;D
Can’t wait to see the new site! And Thor is cracking me up!
Who knew Thor could be so funny? Loving the Thor posts these ladies are putting up!
LOL Gotta love it! Can’t wait for Thor’s visit to Dayton.
My daughter is not into cars at all. My husband and I can’t figure out where we went wrong… (but otherwise she’s all good!)
I can’t wait to see what you guys do with Thor when he gets there. I’m sure you will have a fantastic time.
It’s funny how some kids take to things and not to others. My son couldn’t care less about my Skylark, but my daughter jumps at the chance to take a ride in it every time. Go figure. I was never an old car buff in my younger age. I learned to appreciate them because of my Skylark. So there is hope. Of course, I had to take the engine apart, clean the parts and put them back together again to get the engine running if I wanted to have a car when I turned sixteen. I grumbled a lot and wasn’t happy at the time. I think the appreciation came later. After the car got a paint job and people would run up to me offering to buy it off me. LOL. Someone else might have sold the car. Maybe that approach might work for your daughter, maybe it won’t.
I miss him. I want him back. I think Sheila was too hard on Thor, hoovering?
😀 Aw, CC. He misses you, as well. The two of you had such a fun time together. He can always swing back by to see you when he’s over there again, if you’d like?
I never had the action figures, but oh! Did I love me some Han Solo! I must say, Monkey has excellent taste, Thor is everything a hero should be; definitely my favorite Avenger.
I do recall a great post you did on that subject. I was going to take a picture of me with my Han Solo figure, but I only have my kids here to snap the shot. Hmm. No.
I have to agree with you regarding Monkey’s taste in men. I’ve see the men she’s gawked at, and um, wow. She knows a good looking man when she sees one. As for the Avengers, definitely, Thor, hands down.
I wonder what is going on in that little plastic head of his….
LOL. I suspect his head has swelled larger than is visible to the naked eye. Doh!
This Thor tour is awesome. However, you’d better hope he doesn’t read about your love for Han in this post…or does he already know he’s not #1 in your book? 🙂
Sheesh! What was a thinking? I must have been hitting the sauce when I wrote this post. You are so right. Thor will not take kindly to reading about my relationship with Han. And I think we all know, as sexy as Han is, he’s no match for Thor. Sigh. There you go, another example of mistakes made when writing late at night. Of course, Han is looking a little old these days and Thor is forever yummy. 😀
Thanks, Stacey! We appreciate you stopping in. I had SO much fun with your comment. I’m glad you are enjoying Thor’s World Tour. He still has a lot of stops to make. Be sure to check back and see what other kind of mischief he can get into.
I’ll say a prayer for you that Shelia did all the transcription for his letter and that he has no interest in trivial things like computers and blog posts and reading. 🙂 God luck!
They don’t use computers in Asgard, so… here’s to wishful thinking. 🙂 Thanks, Stacey!
It took awhile, but I’m finally understanding all the fuss about Thor. Got a crush now 🙂
Yay! What’s not to like. 😉
Dear Debra Kristi… Since you are the Unquestionable Thor Maven… I need your help. I was dong the Sunday Crossword by Merl Reagle, and the clue for 44 Down was ‘Like Thor’… 5 letters. I think the 4th letter is an ‘s’. Please advise.
p.s. I can read between the lines of Thor’s letter…
I think the word you may be looking for is Norse. Maybe?
You THINK you can read between the lines. But does anyone really know what’s going on inside Thor’s head? 😉
Oh I’m not going to say ‘which head’… oops, I did…
‘Norse’, thank you, I’ll try it.
You’re welcome. 🙂
Oh, Ted. Shaking a finger at you.
I laughed out loud about Barbie dumping Ken and G.I. Joe for Han Solo. Joe was my Barbie’s first boyfriend…until my brother killed him. Then she moved on to a Beauty and the Beast/Teddy bear guy (literally a bear twenty times her size…hey, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do). Finally Ken came along…and they lived happily-ever-after. And Ken, perfect mate that he is, vacuums -without whining….unlike SOME guys we know. 🙂
Hey. I whine when I have to vacuum. LOL. I just try to keep it to a low hum in my head. 😉 And my poor Ken – he was sentenced to prison, which was my mom’s new microwave at the time. Problem was, you had to turn it on to see him. They were a new thing and I learned the hard way that turning it on meant things got hot and possibly melty. Yeah, Ken didn’t fair too well. Oops. That’s pretty funny about the Teddy bear. I got visions of the teddy for the 3rd Toy Story. Did you see that movie? He was not a nice teddy.
OMG, you microwaved Ken? LOL
I did. His legs were never the same after that. Hahaha!!! Poor guy. I’m an evil owner!
Thor’s travels are a hoot. good luck on the move. Mine was fairly straight forward, all things considered.
I hope mine is straight forward. We will find out soon. *Heavy sigh* Glad you are enjoying Thor’s travels. More stops keep getting added all the time! Thanks, Louise.
Can’t wait to see your new digs, Debra. And thank you so much for sending Thor my way. We had a blast. 🙂
You’re most welcome, Sheila. I’m glad you had so much fun with Thor and the post. I had a lot of fun reading what you put together.
Laird is about ready to start on my site. Not sure I am now. Breathes deep.
Well if Thor were to become an author he could certainly adorn the cover of his own book. He’s the perfect cover model. And wouldn’t it be cool to see some book title follwed by the words “Written by Thor?”
I’m breathlessly awaiting a visit from Thor myself. I’ve got some fun things planned for his visit.

😀
We need to touch base and coordinate in regards to your trip and Thor’s return to the States.
I can’t wait for Thor to arrive at my house! There will be no vacuuming for him. And I wouldn’t dream of serving him brussel sprouts!
He should be there any day! I think you’ll find Thor’s a meat and potatoes kind of guy. Argh. Thor. Beat chest. Tough god. LOL. Of course, his father got by on mead and wine alone, so does Thor really need to eat? Probably not. He’s just humoring us.
And Thor is coming to the Garden of the Goddess… He’ll be just fine with me 🙂
Now that sounds like something he will truly enjoy. *Wags brow*
A quick note to let you know that Thor has arrived safely and is now on the West Coast of Canada. I took him to a party last night, with a group of fabulous women, who showered attention on him for the evening. I’ll be writing about it soon. Thor may need a few days to recover from the experience…
It already sounds like fabulous fun, Sally! I can’t wait to read it. I’ll be emailing you later tonight.
Your daughter has an excellent taste, Debra. Thor is the coolest Avenger. I hope my girl will find Star Wars and superheroes awesome when she’s a little older.
And what a hoot Thor’s newest stop was. I can’t wait to have him. I have many evil plans brewing already. We have a lot of toys in the house for him to encounter.
Thank you, Reetta! Thor will have fun when he makes it out your way. There is always fun to be had in a house with little ones. 🙂 His list of stops keeps growing!
The idea to send Thor on tour was inspired, Debra! I look forward to hearing about his next adventure. I always laugh until I cry.
Thank you, Kassandra. The wonderful ladies hosting Thor get all the credit for the amazing posts they have created. I simply sent him on his merry way. 😀 Thanks for stopping in.
I’ll never forget the Christmas my little brother asked for an Incredible Hulk action figure, and somehow ended up with a John Boy Walton figure by mistake. (Can anybody remember him?) Why, oh why, would anyone have ever created a John Boy action figure? I mean, seriously! My poor brother was heartbroken, not to mention permanently scarred… and oh, did John Boy suffer for his trickery!
My point? It is important for parents to use great care in choosing an action figure for their child… and you, dear Debra, have done well!
Thanks, Laura. Your poor brother. I can’t imagine the emotional let down he had to endure that day. Ouch. A John Boy Walton figure, seriously? I feel for him.
Yea… I’m pretty sure that only 2 of those action figures ever sold. One to my poor brother… the other to the actor who played John Boy. LOL
I just lost my facination for the Nordic god.. Ironman wouldn’t be so fickle just sayin…
Ha ha. He did sound fickle, didn’t he? Although, I doubt Tony Stark does any vacuuming. He has people for that. 😀
Hi Debra,
I think I found Thor! Check it out!

OMG! That’s too funny! Is he a member of your family? I can’t stop chuckling. 😀
My son found it on the internet, and when he showed it to me, I couldn’t help but think of you! Don’t love his widdle hammer?
The hammer makes the picture. It is too precious. Thanks so much for sharing it, Naomi. 😀
