I spent the past several days at the 2012 Romance Writers of America Conference in Anaheim. It was INSANELY AMAZING!!! My brain now feels like mush. I have accomplished very little since arriving home midday Sunday. There is a lot of information still bouncing around inside the inner walls of my head. Immortal Monday will reflect an easy, don’t-think-too-hard format as a result. I thought it might be fun to pull together all things Greek we’ve covered up to this point, and then some. Anyone looking for a Greek mythological creature when it comes to their latest story idea? This may be the stop for you…
Want to revisit any of the Greek gods? Go say hello and share the love!

Have you been busy writing and/or editing? Did you make it to RWA or another conference recently? If so, what were your impressions? Need any monsters for your manuscript? Or feeling more like the monster yourself lately? 😉 Personally, I both need the monsters and feel like one. It’s an interesting place to be in.
~oOo~
I love hearing from you! If you enjoyed this post or any of my previous posts, I’d be delighted to have you hit the follow button or add this blog to your RSS feed! You may also find me on twitter at @DebraKrist. Tootles! Thanks for stopping by!
Great video finds. I think I feel a couple seeds of inspiration growing for blog posts. (As you know from our crit group, my current WIP deals with Scottish mythology rather than Greek so they won’t be appearing in a story…yet.)
Thank you, Marcy. I adore the Scottish! Maybe you might feel the sudden desire to guest post about them on an Immortal Monday. 😉
Super mash up for character inspiration Debra! Glad you’ve been enjoying your conferences 🙂 Here’s hoping summer has some brain un-mushing powers, right? (I need some too!!)
To brain un-mushing! Is there a cocktail for that? Right about now I could us a little zing. Hope you found your rhythm.
I didn’t go to RWA this year, but I’ve been to several, and they definitely do have that brain=mush effect. Glad you enjoyed it!
I hope to go next year. We’ll see how the money flows. I’d love to meet you in person. It was great meeting all the writers that were there. Such a wonderful connection. I need to decide which are the most important ones for my goals and apply myself accordingly. It would be great if I ran into you at one of them sometime. 🙂 Total brain mush – yes.
Hope you’ll post some pics from the conference.
I didn’t take too many pictures this time. Most of the pictures were taken by others and I was tagged in them on Facebook. We should connect there!
I’m so impressed you pulled this post together given the conference exhaustion! I’ve always loved the concept of Cerebrus. As Hagrid says “How often do you come across a three headed dog, even if you’re in the trade?” hehe
Don’t tell anyone, but I only managed because I had bits and pieces put together before the conference. 😉 As for the Cerebrus, imagine what it would take to keep a beastie like that fed!! Today I’m not running on all thrusters and I have to deal with a rather serious water leak that has clearly destroyed my wood floor. *sigh* SO… Looks like I’ll finally get that new floor I’ve been wanting. Just not the way I wanted it. 🙁
the RWA National is an amazing conference. books everywhere and info to overwhelm. glad you enjoyed
Thank you, Louise. It was truly fantastic. I hope to go again next year.
Busy couple of week for you, my friend. Very cool post, too. It makes me wish I dealt with more stuff like this in my writing. And nope, no writing OR editing for me for a couple of weeks…but at least I can walk away with the tools to help me fast draft and revise more efficiently than I have been. 🙂
Get some rest, get your new floor (sorry it’s from water damage though!)…and make sure to share all the pictures so we can all enjoy them. 🙂
It’s hard to work in the writing and editing during summer with the kids around all the time. I know all too well. I fell asleep giving it a good try last night. Ended in a tooth fairy fail. 🙁 And yeah, there is a lot going on here right now. Never a dull moment. Congratulations on your awesome July!
Oh no! Did the tooth fairy have a good excuse for not showing up? More kids than normal lost teeth yesterday and she ran out of money. Sadly it happens…and banks aren’t open in the middle of the night. 🙂
And thank you! Last count 2,025 (with 2 hours left before 3 a.m.). Yay! 🙂
Look at all those links! O.O Thanks for the shout out too!!
Um, yeah. There are a few. Wanted to cover the gods. You just never know what someone might be looking for. You’re welcome for the SO! ;D
My favorite part of popping by RWA was… YOU! Meeting you and other WANAs was such a blast.
As for monsters, yep. I’m feeling like one today. I’m now sans all of my wisdom teeth and my face looks like a lopsided bowling ball. Might provide some good monster-creating inspiration… 😉 So glad you enjoyed the conference!
I LOVED meeting you! Even if I did feel like a dwarf. LOL! Sorry to hear about the wisdom teeth. It heals quickly, but that swollen chipmunk feeling in the meantime isn’t much fun. 😐
I went to the PNWA Writing Conference earlier this month. It was a lot to take in, but very helpful,
This was my first writers conference. There is a lot, isn’t there? But helpful, definitely! That’s fantastic about PNWA! I have no doubt the connections you made will prove invaluable over time.
