Counting Down to 2012

Five, Four, Three, Two… ONE! 2012 is almost here. Do you have your New Year’s resolutions all set and ready to break? Maybe this year we can stick to them together. I know mine…

★ Finish the final book in my trilogy

★ Edit all three books and have them ready to submit

★ Find the right editor with whom together we make a great fit

          ★ Two words:  flat stomach

How about you? What resolutions have you set for yourself? Ready to see them through? Feel like sharing them?

Lastly, as we close out 2011 I thought I would leave you with a few helpful tips…

.

.

To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.

.

.

.

.

Buy mashed potato mix. Keeps in the cupboard for up to a year.

.

.

.

.

.

When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking tin, use a bit of dry cake mix instead and there won’t be any white mess on the outside of the cake.

.

.

.

.

Go to the bakery! Hell, they’ll even decorate it for you!

.

.

.

.
.

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

.

.

.

.

.

Celery? Never heard of it!

.

.

.

.
.

Cure for headaches: take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.

.

.

.

.

.

Take a lime, mix it with tequila, chill and drink! All your pains go away!

.

.

.

.

.

Don’t throw out all that leftover wine. Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauses.

.

.

.

.

Left over wine???????
HELLO!!!!!!

.

.

Happy New Year! May your celebration be full of love, friendship, and a really good fireworks show.  🙂

I’m still out on the high seas and unable to respond to comments. I’ll be back early next week, and will respond as quickly as I can upon my return. I love hearing from you. Tweets are greatly appreciated. 😀

After the cruise, I’m a little farther away from that goal than I was at the start. Doh! Reeving up the P90X again! Flat belly here I come! Join me Emma! 😀

Wishing you the best in your resolutions. You can do it, Debra!

I have one resolution: Be a better juggler. Beyond working full-time, maintaining a blog, recording audio books, editing someone else’s novel, reviewing an ever-increasing stack of books, and keeping a social media presence, I WILL make time to actually write my own new material. By God. Even if something else has to give.

That is an EXCELLENT one to add to my list as well Mike! I have had some “issues” with that in recent months. Wow, day two into the new year and already revising my list. LOL

That’s an excellent one Marcy. When we fit comfortably, we feel better about ourselves and it shows.

Okay, that was very funny, Deb. I don’t know who either of those ladies are (are they famous?), but that was really funny. Good luck with for resolutions!

Glad you liked it Stephen. The old lady, Maxine, is famous for all her shoebox greeting cards. I will admit to not recalling the chief’s name properly, but then cooking is not my thing. LOL I just love Maxine’s responses.

    Happy New Year Debra!

I hope you’re having WAY too much fun out there on the high seas. Those tips are a crack up. You’ll do fab on your resolutions. One of mine? To see friends old and new far more often. So, when do you want to hit up Disneyland? ; )

      Happy New Year Tameri!!!

Fabulous resolution! You know, I had a dream last night about seeing old friends that have been lost to me for several years now. Maybe it’s time to do something about that. Disneyland! We are supposed to go sometime this month to celebrate the kid’s birthdays. We also joined the Disney vacation club so maybe we will take advantage of the park a little more often now that we will get a discount on our annual pass. 😀

Ooh… Can’t wait to share some of my “flat tummy” insight on my blog. So glad you have writing/editing/publishing goals in the pipeline, Debra. Selfishly, I want to read your books! 😉 Have a joyous, safe New Year!!!

I would love to read your “flat tummy” insights! I have been following Tony Horton’s guide, but Mickey Mouse tried to sabotage all my hard work this last week. They did offer a lot of lite eating options on the boat. My husband thought I was crazy when I suggested they have an eatery for those that want to eat healthy and lite. There were all the free hot dogs, burgers, chicken fingers, and pizza you could want! Not to mention the buffets. Their motto – You see it, eat it. LOL

Thank you, August, for the New Year wishes. 😀 I hope you rang in 2012 with great joy and celebration and this post finds you safe and sound. As for my story, I’m hoping I can still get things completed on my original timeline. I have been “off” since becoming so active on social networks and the blog. Let’s hope that I, too, can learn to be a better juggler along with Mike.

Hey, I like that celery idea…does it really work? And sigh…I think wishing for a flat stomach is right there with world peace. It’s a lovely dream.

My grandmother used to wrap all the celery in aluminum foil. I am guessing there is truth in that tip. I had actually forgotten about it until now. I will have to start using it.

I, too, used to feel that way about flat stomachs. But I now believe it’s doable. It just requires hard work and sacrifice. It’s not without pain. Happy New Year Sara! Thanks for stopping by!!!

I love the advice! I’m definitely with the second woman. This year I am going to stop doing things that I don’t want to do, like cooking, baking, and eating fruit as dessert. And I’m going to stop beating myself up for not doing them and not wanting to do them in the first place. I’m going to pay someone else to clean, order take out, and then eat ice cream in front of the tv! Happy 2012.

      Happy 2012 Emma!

I love that idea – no guilt for enjoying yourself. That’s the way it should be. I am so on board with someone else cleaning! I also don’t want to cook and bake.

Every year I simplify my life and believe there’s nothing left to take away. And then I find something the next year. Sorry I’m late to the party. Happy New Year

It’s never late Louise! I’ve been stuck out at sea without internet access till now. Happy 2012! It’s funny how there is always something we can improve upon or would like to achieve. Personally, I think it’s good if that well is never fully empty.

Thank you Angela! Happy New Year to you! Our trip was fabulous. The family was sad for it to end. As it turns out, I didn’t get the writing or reading time I had planned, but the family time was simply marvelous!  I haven’t made any resolutions in a few years but this year it seemed fitting. Here’s to hoping I can make them a reality.

Happy 2012 Susie!!! Glad you enjoyed the laugh. 😀

Happy New Year, Debra! Glad the cruise was fun for you and your family…even considering the buffets and all the free junk food. 🙂

Still considering what I want to go on my resolution list this year. Yes it’s late, but I don’t care. I just want a list of goals I might actually care about accomplishing for a change. That lime thing might have to be added though…. 🙂

    • Debra KristiDebra Kristi

Thank you Kristy! I’m sure you’ll come up with a great list of goals. Your Row80 is a good start. Thanks for stopping in. I know it’s been crazy for you lately. Look how long it took me to work my way through all the comments to get back to this post and the comments here. I’m so behind. Ugh. LOL
