Veterans Day is upon us when we honor the many men and woman who have given their heart and soul for our freedoms. In my eye they are all equally important and worthy of our love and celebration. Let us never forget how much they give up for us each and every day. As we curl up, all comfy on our warm sofa and turn on our favorite television show, they sleep sitting up ready to snap awake at any moment should the need arise. They endure harsh weather conditions, hostile environments and so much more. For some of us, we can’t even imagine what it’s like to live the way they must or see the things they do.
God bless our military service personal, past and present, for all that they have done.
I come from a military family and married into a military family. I understand duty and honor, and the sacrifices made. I want to throw a shout out to my grandfather for his many years served since I know my grandmother follows this blog and can share this page with him. My grandfather was a career military man who finished his years as a Brigadier General. God Bless you Grandpa!

Yep, my dad served for many years in the Army and my sister was in the Air Force for 25 years, retiring as a Major. I’m so proud of them both and feel blessed that they gave something of themselves for us.
That’s wonderful Tameri. I think it’s a hard thing to do, but a very honorable one. Knowing how it has affected us back home, I know it takes its toll on the family. But where would we be as a nation without these brave men and women? My brother-in-law was the most recent to serve. He’s been back home for a few years now. Thankfully he was able to apply his acquired skills into a position where he was needed. Not all returning are so lucky.

My husband and I are both retired from the Air Force (he did 27 and I did 20 years), my father put in 30 years in the Army as did one of my brothers, two of our sons served for a time (Navy and Air Force), my grandfather was in the Navy as was my husband’s father. So, we are a very dedicated lot, proud to have served the great nation in which we live!! It was an honor indeed to serve people like you!! (smile)
That’s awesome Deborah! Did you take that test in high school that told you what you were best suited for? Mine told me the military. My grandfather was all over that one! LOL Not my dad so much, but grandpa (The General) was all, “They can use more women in the Army!” Obviously I didn’t join because at the time I had grand ideas of becoming a dancer and not G.I Jane. LOL Yeah, well. We all have illusions. Hats off to you and your family. You are all very dedicated indeed!

Thank you Elisa! Much like your Uncle, I believe it was? My husband’s uncle had true horror stories about WWII that he would never discuss. I suppose he saw some truly terrible things. My grandpa has stories as well.

That’s wonderful Angela! My father’s side isn’t too far removed from our Norwegian roots. His grandparents were the ones to first travel and relocate the family to America. My mother’s side goes back much farther. All service is honorable!
