The Gods Go Supernatural

Fan of Supernatural? How about Greek Mythology? The two will collide this week when our favorite demon hunters mistake a Titan for a zombie. You heard me right – a Titan! Prometheus will find himself on prime time television with the Winchester boys.

I’ve enjoyed Supernatural for its inception and I don’t think it’s any secret how I feel when it comes to things that fall in the realm of an Immortal Monday topic. This one‒Greek gods‒couldn’t be more perfect.

In addition to Prometheus, Artemis and Zeus will have a go with Sam and Dean. Hmm. I would not mind playing the part of Artemis. Having a chance to get that up close and personal with Dean Winchester-where do I sign up?

And our Greek gods are…

Prometheus was credited with the creation of man. Thought of as a trickster, he is held accountable for the theft of fire, giving it to mortals making him their champion. Zeus punishes for his crimes by sentencing him to eternal torment. He is bound to a rock and every day an eagle (the embodiment of Zeus) feed from his liver, only to have his liver grow back so that he may experience it all over again.

Artemis, daughter of Zeus and Leto, was the goddess of the hunt, wild animals, and wilderness to name a few. She was often depicted carrying a bow and arrows and so it is fitting she is adopted for this episode hunting Prometheus. Could it be he was freed from his bond and she looks to return him?

*Artemis’ history is a tricky one and scholars have varied theories. Some believe she was the daughter of Demeter, some think her origins pre-date Greek mythology all together. For the purpose of the Supernatural episode, we are choosing the most likely and most popular option.

Zeus was the Father of gods and men, ruler of the Olympians at Mount Olympus and commander of the sky and thunder. For more on Zeus check out Immortal Monday’s dedicated post: A Father of Fathers.

You can catch this episode on the CW this Wednesday 9.8 c

In other news…THOR!!! “Where has he been, “you ask? I have the answer. Have you heard of a little thing called Mardi Gras? Oh my gosh! Who would have thought the trouble he could find when I sent him on his merry way. Go check out his latest with my amazing web designer, (coming soon! I promise!) Laird Sapir:

Mudbugs and War Hammers

To catch up on past Thor adventures, hop on over to Thor’s Tour page. You can be added to the tour at anytime should you want to join the fun. He’s always game for another stop.

My book just dropped in my in-box full of edits. I will be extremely busy for who-knows-how-long. It’s doubtful there will be a Friday Fictioneers on this blog this week. Sorry. It’s a busy time. But here’s a little something you may be interested to know, I have a file that has been growing at a fair rate, full of Immortal Monday posts. Yep, I plan on bringing back the popular series when things slow down a bit. Keep watching. Immortal Monday will be back!

Who doesn’t love a kick-ass female? None of this “save me, save me” crap coming from her. 😉 Not that any god is really ever screaming that. But especially not Artemis. Great to see you Rebecca.

Well it looks like somebody is going to be having a grand time watching television. How will you fit it all in with those book edits?

    Good luck with those.

I have a DVR. My priorities are straight. Book edits come first. I’m only here because it’s homework break-time. I appreciate your concern and expect you to keep me in line. Crack the whip if you see me playing when I should be working. 😉 Thanks, Patricia – otherwise known as Jansen *hehe*

I don’t watch much TV, but Supernatural is my daughter’s favorite show! I know she’ll be looking forward to this week’s episode, especially if it has mythology. 🙂
I’m looking forward to more Immortal Monday. In the meantime, hope the edits go well!

I may have to start watching Supernatural again, or at least watch this week’s episode! Artemis is one of my favorite from Greek mythology. So clever of them to do this–a fresh slew of possibilities for trouble for the Winchesters. Off to read about Thor now… I love mudbugs!

I heard they were in the #2 slot for Wednesday night television. Or maybe it was CW. I can’t recall now. Anywho… The Winchesters are doing well. Pulled back from Friday night death night. 😀 The mythology twist was a nice one. Hope you enjoyed Thor’s post. It was a real kick!

That’s one of the shows we don’t watch, but I need to check it out. Prometheus on prime time. That’s a hoot! Now I’m off to see what Thor’s been up to. Finally a Thor spotting!

WHAT? You don’t sit in front of the television and drool over Dean? 😉 I’ll forgive you. I was a bad girl and watched while working on a few things. I should have had the television off. But man, they made Zeus out to be a stinker. Guess he really was in that case though. Not the actor I would have chosen for him. Prometheus on the other hand. Nice.

How on earth do you fit it all in? I’m so out of touch where TV is concerned! But now, I’m off to find out what my favourite Bachelor (Thor) has been up to!

I hardly do. Most of the time I’m running around here feeling like I’m losing my mind. I just looked at the clock and realized I lost an hour somewhere. See! Losing my mind. I’m so glad you and Will are doing so well. The pictures you posted on the last post were gorgeous despite the storm. Glad you enjoyed Thor’s visit with Laird. It was a crack up.

You certainly are a wealth of information on this stuff! I received the first season of Supernatural as a gift, and haven’t had the chance to watch a single episode yet. Bummer, huh? I promise I will get to it someday. Soon… hopefully soon!

And now… off to see what Thor’s up to. 🙂

When you finally decide to give the show a try, I hope you find you like it. It’s a lot of fun – as was Thor’s post. 😀
