FROGS? – Checking in on the Row80 Party Tour 1/15

How is everyone doing so far? Still got that dance party groove goin’ on here! Just need some party lights, good tunes and we’re ready to keep it going for the long stretch.

Take it away frogs…

One down, not crying yet. Most of the Row80 crowd is in their second week, but I jumped in late, so it will always be one number less for me. The non-writer crowd is asking, ”What is Row80?” Row80 is a challenge writers put themselves up to, together with other writers, in order to keep themselves accountable. It stands for a Round of Words in 80 days. You set the goals and they can be changed and/or updated as we go, if needed. Here are my mine.

This first week went fairly well over all. Here is the breakdown:

❤ Write forward on my WIP everyday: Managed to do this everyday except Saturday.

❤ Write 2100 words a week on my WIP: #Wordsprints with Fabio, Lauren, Nicole and Lena (to name a few) have helped me far exceed this goal bringing me in at 6480 words on the book alone. I also created 6 entries for a running blog post that will go with the book. They are currently written in long hand so I’m unsure of the word count, but estimate them to be in the ballpark of 2500 words total.

❤ Complete & fully participate in Bob Mayer’s Write It Forward Workshop: I must admit to not following all the individual chatter going on in the loop. Having missed the beginning of conversations I find it hard to jump in just anywhere. Chaos at home has hindered my progress on assignment #2, but hopefully I will have that done by the time you are reading this since it is next thing on my to-do list.

❤ Blog 3x a week, plus one Row80 update: Check

❤ Comment on/visit/retweet at least 12 blogs a week: I failed to hit any on Tuesday, with this in mind I still visited 34 blogs, commented on 34 blogs and tweeted 26 blogs. Maybe I could scale back here creating more time for writing?

❤ Discover at least 1 new blog a week: Check! I actually discovered several!

❤ Exercise: Doing 75 sit-up and 20 push-ups regularly, I apparently need to work my way back up to 10 pull-ups. I got soft. Added Ginger Calem’s writer’s butt to my program. Keeping myself active every time I get up out of the chair by jogging, jumping and bouncing my way across the house.

❤ Make more time for the family: Working in this area, but slowly getting there.

In addition to the above goals I made some overdue changes to my blog and managed to get the mess that blew in with us on our return home from the holidays put away (suitcases put away, laundry done, folded and stashed). Now if I could only get to the actual holiday decorations! That would be awesome!!!

This concludes my Row80 update for this evening/morning/day – whenever you find yourself reading this. 🙂 Have an amazing day!

Thank you Louise! Glad you like the Frogs. I thought they were a lot of fun.

I think looking at the social media goals and deciding where to scale back is a good idea, but also difficult. I find that I probably spend too much time online now because I consider it work when I’m reading and commenting on blogs. I also need to find a way to scale back while also reading the blogs I enjoy and supporting my blogger friends. This is going to be tough! But I want more time for writing, too. You’ve got me thinking…

I feel the same way Emma, I want to support everyone as much as I can. It’s hard walking that line, but we all do it. I really need to find time to work with Fabio’s spreadsheet.

This was a great week, Debra! You did very well. Like me, you have many goals. Unlike me, you seem to have struck a good balance 🙂
    Before I forget: wordsprints rock!

It was, wasn’t it Fabio?! I’m bummed that I’ll miss tomorrow’s word sprint. With it being the holiday the kids are out of school and I’m taking them to see the grandparents. 🙂 🙁 But family time is equally important. I’ll see you there on Tuesday!

You kicked butt on the wordcount – you go! Also did a lot on the blogs, which isn’t trivial. I’d consider last week a big success – may this one go as well!

Thanks Jennette! It feels good to be writing forward again, even if it’s a little rough. I’m slowly getting my groove back.

I love seeing everyone’s word counts go up, up, up with our wordsprints! You are doing wonderfully well, my friend. Have a great week!

Thanks Lena! I wish the same for you. I hope you can join us for more word counts this week. I’ll be out on Monday and Friday. That’s a bummer. Hope I can still keep the word count up regardless.

Congrats on doing so well on your ROW80 goals, but wow, those frogs! I’m sending them on to my frog-loving mother!

Thanks Jennifer! I’ve been working hard at it. Today’s a day off though with the kids. Those frogs are great!
