Halloween is two weeks away. I used to get overly excited about this particular holiday. We’d take weeks or more transforming our house. Building rooms within rooms. Creating tunnels, cemeteries, and every kind of scare you can conceive. This year things are different. This year I’m finding it difficult to get the decorating buzz humming. I just don’t want to do it.
When you’re in need of inspiration what do you do?
Some of the favorite responses to that answer, at least in my house, are born out of pure avoidance. Don’t feel like decorating? That’s fine. Take a nap, read a book, watch television, go shopping. Anything but face the thing you don’t want to do.
Think how much simpler life would be if you donated the decorations and didn’t bother with them anymore.
I know, right about now some part of you is thinking I’m crazy. Realistically speaking, we’ve all had days where we’ve felt that way. But that’s not who we want to become—is it? We must embrace life and all the amazing bits and pieces that come with it, holidays included.
I will decorate!
Now to get from blah to inspired.
Have I mentioned the fact I’m a Pinterest maniac? I adore the site! There isn’t a time I’ve stepped onto Pinterest’s cyber space that it hasn’t sparked my imagination. You must be careful, though. A few minute and it will suck you in. It is a vortex of intoxicating imagery that refuses to release you, no matter the time. Before you know it—BAM—an hour of your life is forever gone! Of course, during that time you will have “liked” and “pinned” a ton of cool things making them easier for you to find them again. 😉

Good idea. Kind of lost my holiday spirit a few years ago and it’s tough to get back once it’s gone. This is a good idea. I’ll have to remember to visit Pinterest over the next few weeks. 😀
